Roles and Responsibilities

a. To promote knowledge of bio-medical sciences in India and its application to problems of national health and welfare.

b.To recognize and encourage merit in all branches of bio-medical and allied sciences and to confer distinctions, awards and such honors on Fellows/ Officers and others, commensurate with their achievements.

c.To undertake bio-medical scientific research of national and international importance and to assist the Government of India and its agencies in framing policies and programmes on biomedical and public health issues.

d. Promoting medical education by conducting CME in medical institutions throughout the country.

e. To publish proceedings, journals, monographs, transactions, reports and other material as and when necessary.

f. To encourage talent and recognize merit of health and biomedical students, NAMS has established Orations & Awards.

g.To undertake medical scientific work of national and international importance through properly constituted committees
